I have a terrible memory. You can tell me something and 20 minutes later I will forget it. I never used to be like this. It must have to do with aging. I mean, I am in my mid thrities now!
Why am I telling you this?
For two reasons. One: I am writing this blog to help me remember events and adventures that I have had. Two: I have reconnected with friends from elementary, middle and high school and remember very little from way back in the day. Someone will mention an event and they remember all the little details and I think to myself: "was I even there?". Which I must have been since they have told me about it.
One such instance is when I was in sixth grade we did a musical about "A man's dream to fly". What I do remember is that many of my classmates had soloist parts or narrative parts. Me, I think I was part of the choir. Nothing exciting believe me, there had to have been about 200 of us in the 5th and 6th grade class. I was tucked neatly in the back row so even my parents have little memory of their child in such an amazing stage show. All my friends are discussing their parts and someone mentioned they were part of the dance troop that did the Lindy Hop. Hmmmm, that sounds familiar. Then it was mentioned that I was part of that same dance troop. Ah, yes, now I remember...the iron on decal on my while tshirt with the blue sleeves, the powder blue hat with the stapled on white wings. I am sure that as a dance troop we were very attactive. But again, I was in the back. So after mentioning this to my mom she found pictures. (Now cameras back them were 35mm or instimatic so picture quality is lacking.) Every picture has me tucked away in the back. No wonder I barely remember this exciting event.
With all these new memories popping into my head here and there, I thought I would write about them every so often. I hope that you find them funny and warm. I hope they also bring back fun and wonderful memories of your own. Keep reading, you never know what I might write about next!
